Analysis from Art of the Title Sequence

At the beginning the production companies which are Focus Features, Laika Production and Pandemodieum LLC appear in a bold, spaced font with a stitched design, its a white font on an orange/brown background with a black lace border. This format is used when the production companies, the title of the film and cast titles come up. There are no images apart from the writing and in this part of the sequence only wide shots are used.

However when the animation appeared the font changed to white and it had a swirly design under each title and the titles would dissolve when they appeared and disappeared off the screen. The titles used in this part of the sequence are in this order : Animators Travis Knight,Concept artist Tadahiro Uesugi , Art Directors Bo Henry, Story supervisor Chris Butler, Editor Christopher Murrie , Visual effects supervisor Brian Van't Hull , Music Bruno Coulais , Supervising animator Anthony Scott, Produced by Mandy Sandell, Based on a Novel By Neil Gaiman, Written for the screen and directed by Henry Selick. In this part of the sequence wide shots, close up when the doll was being cut up by scissors and extreme close up when the stitching was taken off the dolls head. These shots were used to show the action and emphasize on the stitching and sewing. The images used were animated because it is an animation movie.

This sequence appeals to me because the beginning is slow but then we are drawn in from the shift between the plain titles to the animation. The beginning is slow but then when the animation appears it is fast paced matching the action in the opening sequence. The music also appeals to me because although this is a children's movie the music implies that it has some thriller element.
